You switch between them depending on the material, which is different from a single-laser machine with a "power setting."
Why two lasers instead of one? Because the two sources operate at different wavelengths. The fiber laser's wavelength is absorbed by metals, so it can mark steel or aluminum. The diode laser's wavelength works on organics. A single source can't do both material families well—that's the math behind the design.
